A LIFE TWICE SAVED

Early one morning, while driving to Maasai Corner, I noticed a large crowd on the side of the road. I slowed down to see what was happening and was horrified to see many people beating and kicking a young woman. I drove my truck off the road and into the crowd, honking my horn repeatedly. I jumped out of the truck and pushed my way to the mob that was beating her. I screamed loudly several times in Swahili “Please stop! Please do not kill this woman!” Miraculously, they stopped for a moment and turned to me. I asked why they were beating this woman and they replied that she had stolen someone’s phone. I then asked where the phone was and they replied that they could not find the phone on her, but she was guilty of stealing it. I asked them if the value of any phone was worth killing this young woman and their response was yes, we are going to kill her. I then asked what the phone cost, they said it cost $60. I asked again, if $60 justified taking this lady’s life and many of them screamed “YES, she is a thief and she must die!” I then told what appeared to be the leader of the mob that I would pay this debt if they would give the woman to me and place her into my truck. Quickly two men grabbed the lady by her hair and dragged her to my truck, then I helped her into the seat. September Newsletter 2012

The last four months have been very busy and exciting here in Mombasa! Lisa & I have had the privilege of hosting several “short term mission” teams from America. During this time, over 200 people have come to Christ and many more have been encouraged. Each team had its own unique focus. The types of ministry these teams brought included teaching, construction, sports ministry, medical and dental services. Every team participated in “hut to hut” evangelism and many were able to share their personal testimonies with the African people. There were days when many came to Christ and days were it seemed every person we met were Muslim and had no intention of converting. Both of our ministry sites were encouraged and blessed by the presence of all these visitors from America. Lisa & I were especially blessed by each person that sacrificed two weeks or more to be a part of Real 4 Christ Ministries here on the coast of Kenya.

May 2012 Ministry Growth in Kenya

The first quarter of 2012 has been exciting! Our elementary school on the north coast, MBEWAU Academy, which educates and feeds over 200 children, continues to flourish. The students remain heathy as the clinic is providing proper healthcare to the children and their families. Thanks to Hallmark and MANNA Worldwide, we were able to add various fruits, vegetables and proteins to their meals each day providing more nutrition.

January 2012 Happy New Year!

Lisa & I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! 2011 was an incredible year with so many blessings. God worked through our ministries to care for the physical and spiritual needs of so many precious men, women and children along the coast of Kenya. God has blessed us with two great works (Mbewau and Maasai Corner) that are growing with new converts each and every month.

Thousands of meals were served monthly thanks to the contributions from MANNA Worldwide and many others. 175 kids received a good Christian education. Thousands have received medical attention as a result of donors sending supplies & medicine to use in our clinic. Everyday hundreds of women line up for free clean drinking water provided at both ministry locations. The sports ministry continues to be an exciting time where God’s word is poured into the lives of the young adults while they come to participate in organized soccer and volleyball games.

March 2011 Maasai Corner Update

The past three months have been very exciting for our new ministry located on the South Coast of Kenya. Nearly all the people living there believe they are born a Muslim. While the area is deep in the bush with more needs than we can meet, God has tremendously blessed our faithfulness. In the first two weeks of Church services sitting on timbers under a mango tree, we had two Muslim men give their lives to Christ. Several others have accepted Christ over the past few months . The church averages between 35-45 people who seem hungry to hear the true Gospel. Last month, we moved Pastor Eric and his family into a mud home on the property. I am happy to report that in the next two weeks, we will completely finish building his home and a toilet. He and his family have asked me to pass along their gratitude to all who gave…

One Year Down, Many More To Go

Can you believe it has been a year since we moved to Mombasa? Time really has flown. God has blessed us in more ways than we could have ever imagined. We have seen many come to Christ and grow in their faith. We watched a school grow from 1 classroom to 5, with more than 160 students. Developing a church on the north coast and beginning a new ministry on the south coast, has been so rewarding. We have had an amazing year and are so blessed!

Remember Anne Kalume? She was the little girl who’s father was killed last year. Today she is the top student in her class, her two younger brothers are enrolled in our school, and her baby twin sisters are growing healthy. Her mom is now saved and in
our church every Sunday…

Dec 2010 Reaching Muslims

It is so exciting to watch God work in the lives of people and in the church as He takes them through a maturing process. I have the privilege to be involved in developing the members of MBEWAU Church by working with their pastor for the past 3 years. Many are involved in small group ministries, encouraging fellow Christians on a weekly basis. I have seen a huge growth in their prayer life and witnessed the most amazing part of spiritual maturity which is sharing their faith with others. Last month, we held a seminar on “how to share the gospel with people from all walks of life”, with a special emphasis on sharing the plan of salvation with the Muslim community. There seems to be an avoidance by Christians in reaching this group of people, mostly because of a lack of knowledge concerning their beliefs.

The seminar was followed up with nearly 40 church members visiting the surrounding villages and sharing what
they learned. I am excited to report that God blessed our efforts, 7 Muslims came to receive Christ with a total of 28 being converted. Our goal is to…

These are the Best Years of our Lives!

Lisa and I can’t believe it has been three years since we first met Pastor Nzaro at Mtepeni. We remember praying with him under a mango tree and asking God to do a miracle with his ministry. We hugged the children, said our goodbyes and returned to America. The next month we started Real 4 Christ Ministries and began raising funds for Pastor Nzaro’s Church and School.

Over the next 2 years we made 5 trips back and forth to Kenya. Each time, bringing hope to this amazing village. Many were saved, baptized and changed forever. Aug 2010 News from the Field

Can you believe that we have been on the mission field for half a year? The time has passed quickly! I am happy to report since the last “Kenya Connection” newsletter, we received funds to purchase and fence the new acre of land next to our school at MBEWAU. Every day our school children can play on the new property and every afternoon hundreds of kids gather on the cleared field and enjoy playing soccer for hours. We are also very excited that our Feeding Center is just weeks away from completion and soon more than 120 kids will be served 2 hot meals at day, while eating on tables and sitting on benches without having to worry about the rains, intense sun or bugs from eating on the ground. June 2010 Prayer Letter

Hit the Ground Running!!

We arrived in Kenya in Feb and immediately began working with our ministry at Mtepeni which is called MBEWAU. This church and school started with in a mud hut, but over the past 3 years, we have seen God do some amazing things. The church and school have tripled in size, many coming to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. Electricity, fresh water, toilets, rock buildings, roads and other things have come to a village with so many needs. This could not have happened without the faithful support of each of you. We plan to break ground on the R4C South Coast ministry by the end of the year. We are busy and so blessed!
